Henri Bonet: Russia’s made a lot of progress

6 Sep 2011

Henri Bonet, Institute for Radioelements, Belgium, has been following the Russian production of isotopes for many years, since the time when it was active in this business and later when it has to deal with severe logistics problems concerning the procurement of isotopes from Russia all over the world. But today Russia’s made a lot of progress and it is now included in the general movement of development of nuclear medicine and facilities.

Mr. Bonet points out that three years ago in Seoul, Korea, he presented the speech on the nuclear renaissance and its impact on radioisotopes production, where he was very optimistic to show how many nuclear plants would be built in Russia, China and all over the world. Today he had to adjust his speech in light of the recent events in Fukushima. Now Mr. Bonet advises people to be very careful, as Fukushima is representing a very specific scenario, which occurred for the first time in history and has to be taken into consideration when talking about further development of the nuclear industry.
