7th International
Conference on Isotopes

World Trade Center, Moscow, Russia

September 4-8, 2011

Welcoming Message from the President of the World Council on Isotopes

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of the World Council on Isotope, I cordially welcome you to the 7th International Conference on Isotopes. I would also like to express appreciation for the dedication of the Organizing Committee of 7ICI and for their great success.

WCI was established in September 2008 after the 6th International Council on Isotopes in May 2008 in Seoul, Korea. As stated in its charter, the main purpose of WCI is to promote safe and environmentally sound isotope technologies to serve the needs for global wellbeing and to sanction periodic international conferences on isotopes that are normally held in a councilmember country every three years. Hence, 7ICI becomes the first international conference for the WCI to sanction since it was founded. This is definitely a meaningful moment of celebration.

I believe that we are now facing a period of change in isotope industries worldwide through a series of recent experience like rebirth of nuclear renaissance, global shortage and imbalance of medical isotope supply, and the mishap at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants.

I would like to assure you that the World Council on Isotopes will make every effort to continue the tradition of ICI as an important international forum for sharing our knowledge and professional expertise in isotope applications for the benefit of all human beings by promoting peaceful uses of isotope technologies.

I look forward to seeing you at 7ICI in Moscow, Russia.

Chang Sun Kang
President, World Council on Isotope
